Partnering with law enforcement
The Partnership, through individual members and the organization as a whole, has long been an ally to law enforcement. In the 1990s, Honeywell and Allina Health System spearheaded Minnesota HEALS , a collaboration among employers - including General Mills, Medtronic and 3M - law enforcement, neighborhood groups and faith communities to address the rise of violent crime in South Minneapolis.
Insights gained through HEALS prompted Target Corporation and others to help create the framework for CriMNet, an ongoing, statewide initiative to electronically connect 1,100 police departments, sheriff's offices, jails, prosecutors, probation agencies, and other criminal justice agencies.
Following up on CriMNet, the Partnership worked with Target, The Travelers, General Mills, 3M, SUPERVALU, TCF Financial, U.S. Bancorp, Wells Fargo Bank and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to create Spotlight on Crime . This self-sustaining reward fund offers large rewards for information leading to arrest and conviction in "cold" murder cases involving innocent victims. Additinal contributions came from the Hubbard Foundation, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst and Young, Liberty Diversified Industries and Marvin Lumber & Cedar Co.
