Responding to the Tragedy in Haiti
Partnership members, their employees, foundations and parent companies are reponding to the devasting earthquake in Haiti with characteristic compassion, generousity and resolve. Below is a partial list of how our members have responded to this extraordinary tragedy.
3M: The 3M foundation is matching up to $100,000 in contributions to the American Red Cross or CARE.
Allianz Life: Allianz is contributing $25,000, divided among the American Red Cross International Response Fund (ARCIRF) and CARE International. The company will also match employee donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000 to ARCIRF and CARE International.
Allina donated medical/surgical supplies to ARC. I know some RNs are volunteering via MNA.
Ameriprise Financial: In addition to an annual grant to the American Red Cross for disaster relief, which will be $125,000 this year, Ameriprise will match employee and field member donations to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund up to $100,000.
ATT: ATT is making a $50,000 donation to Telecoms Sans Frontieres, and text donations go to Red Cross. In addition, ATT is coordinating the donation of 7,000 wireless phones to Haiti and providing smart phones and service to Concern Worldwide.
Best Buy: Best Buy is contributing $200,000 to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Mercy Corps for the relief efforts in Haiti.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota: BCBS is contributing $10,000 to Feed My Starving Children to help purchase more than 55,000 meals for people in Haiti.
Cargill: Cargill made an initial corporate donation of $50,000 to CARE and the World Food Programme. In addition, Cargill volunteers at its headquarters are packaging meals for Kids Against Hunger, which will be sent directly to people in Haiti. (More on Cargill's response...).
Ceridian Corporation: Ceridian is providing free telephonic counseling and bereavement support to all of its customers and is matching employee donations to the Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development fund.
C.H. Robinson: C.H. Robinson is matching all employee gifts to the American Red Cross and International Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts. The company is also donating transportation and logistics services to a variety of customers and humanitarian organizations – transporting donated water, heavy equipment, food, construction supplies, etc.
Cigna Corp: Cigna Corp., the parent company to Cigna Behavioral Health, is donating $50,000 and will match employee donations up to $50,000.
Comcast Corp: Comcast corporate office is donating $50,000 in cash and nearly $1 million in in-kind aid to the American Red Cross and Telecoms Sans Frontieres.
Ecolab: Ecolab will contribute $500,000 of cleaning and sanitation products, including hand sanitizers and surface sanitizers. In addition, the Ecolab Foundation will match up to $25,000 in Ecolab associate contributions to the Red Cross. (More on Ecolab response...)
General Mills: The General Mills Foundation will make a $100,000 grant to the American Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund and $150,000 to CARE International for long-term rebuilding efforts. (More on General Mills Foundation's response...)
Hormel Foods Corporation: Hormel is matching employee donations up to $25,000 for relief efforts. All contributions will support the American Red Cross.
IBM: IBM is donating $150,000 in technology and technical services.
Imation: Imation is providing a Matching Gift Program for its global workforce who donate to disaster relief through American Red Cross or the International Red Cross. In addition, corporate headquarters employees packaged 24,000 meals for Feed My Starving Children.
KPMG: KPMG's global operations are donating $2.4 billion through corporate contributions, employee donations and matching funds, including nearly $450,000 from U.S. operatins.
Medtronic: The Medtronic Foundation has pledged $750,000 in grants to rebuild Haiti’s healthcare infrastructure. In addition, the Foundation will match employee donations up to $250,000 to Partners in Health for short-term relief. (More on Medtronic's response...)
The Mosaic Company: Mosaic is contributing $500,000 for immediate and long-term assistance, supporting emergency medical services, triage and mobile communications. The contributions include $125,000 to each of the following four organizations: Canadian Red Cross, American Refugee Committee, American Red Cross and International Red Cross. Pentair, Inc.: Pentair and its Foundation have donated $200,000 to fund portable water treatment systems and related supplies to provide drinking water to approximately 100,000 people a day. (More on Pentair, Inc.'s response...)
RBC Wealth Management: The RBC Foundation - USA, the charitable giving arm for RBC Wealth Management in the United States, will match up to $500 for employee contributions made to organizations providing disaster relief and humanitarian aid, in addition to RBC's donation of $100,000 to Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.
St. Jude Medical: The St. Jude Medical Foundation is matching donations to Haiti relief organizations made by all employees worldwide from the day of the earthquake through Feb. 15. Donations made to international organizations will be matched to the American Red Cross.
SUPERVALU INC.: The SUPERVALU Foundation has made a monetary donation to CARE International to support disaster relief in Haiti.
Target: Target is donating $500,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. In addition, Target Volunteers are working in partnership with students from The Fair School in Minneapolis and ImpactLives, a local non-profit organization, to prepare more than one million meals to send to Haitian earthquake victims. TCF Bank: TCF is matching donations of local groups raising funds for Haiti.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans: Thrivent will match $1 for every $2 donated by Thrivent Financial members up to $1 million for the potential of generating $3 million. Funds will be directed to four Lutheran organizations to support their Haiti earthquake relief efforts: Lutheran World Relief, ELCA Disaster Response, LCMS World Relief and Human Care and WELS Committee on Relief.
Travelers: Travelers is making a $50,000 corporate gift to the Red Cross and up to $50,000 in matching gift allowance for employees in gifts ranging from $25-$500.
UnitedHealth Group: UnitedHealth donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. In addition, the company will match up to $50,000 in employee contributions to charitable partner Global Impact. Also, OptumHealth, UnitedHealth Group’s health and wellness business, is providing a free emotional-support help line for people in the United States that may have relatives or friends in Haiti. U.S. Bancorp: The U.S. Bancorp Foundation will donate $100,000 to support the American Red Cross and has waived the minimum $50 contribution necessary for a match from the Employee Matching Gifts program. In addition, U.S. Bank will refund fees for remittances to Haiti made by U.S. Bank retail customers from any U.S. Bank branch through February 28, 2010. Wells Fargo & Company: Wells Fargo is contributing $100,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. (More on Wells Fargo's response...)
Xcel Energy is contributing $50,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund and matching employee contributions to relief organizations of their choice up to $750 per employee.
